Dry Mixed Muddy

Before you ride, run or hike Dava Way

Is the whole route dry and open?

No opening status is verified here. This is a model estimate; local puddles, damage and closures may differ. 763 calculated segments across 8 weather cells. Follow land-manager notices.

When will this route dry?

A current surface score does not establish a drying time. Check the rainfall observation time, refresh stale inputs and review local reports before leaving.

Route and access notes

A Scottish railway-path journey between Forres and Grantown-on-Spey, crossing woodland, farmland and the open Dava Moor. Explore the mapped route and its source limitations before planning your walk.

Planning this route

The Dava Way Association describes a 38 km route following the former Highland Railway. This guide presents the hiking source relation, with one connected line between the Forres and Grantown ends. It is not a prescribed daily itinerary. Most mapped source ways are tagged unpaved, but surface information is absent for roughly 2.5 km. Do not interpret the railway alignment as a promise of a uniformly firm or accessible surface. Use the operator’s route map to choose access points; adjacent stretches of old railway are not necessarily part of the Dava Way.

Access and source limitations

The operator warns that marked parking locations do not grant permission to park. About 7.5 km of the mapped source lacks explicit or straightforward walking-access tags; that is uncertainty, not proof of closure. Check local signs and operator updates. No live closure feed has been verified for this guide.
